Praise and Prayers

Friday after school, we invited the 8th and 9th graders over for "youth group activities" - snacks, games, and devotion time.  It was a great! It was really nice to be able to be "fun" with the kids - instead of making sure they are on task all the time.  We played some games, and then made up skits to show each other.  It was really great - they all got into it - most everyone ended up dancing to random songs we had on our ipods!

I promise we did devo time also!  And, it went really well - I think it's going to be really great to share with the students outside of our Christian school environment.  Most of the students at our school have families that are always traveling - often going home to parent-less houses - so, I think they were glad to have an activity after school on Friday.  This Friday we are having the 7th grade over!

Our power was out almost all weekend - and it was so hot - we couldn't even sleep at night! We spent all day Saturday at the pool - trying to stay cool - but by Sunday, we were all at our "breaking points." So...we moved a mattress out on the porch, so that we could nap in the breeze outside! We do not look nice, but we had to take a picture of this!

We borrowed one of the cleaner's at school's TV, so that we could watch the last game in the African Cup - but Ghana lost to Egypt - sad!

I was so very thankful the power came back on last night - fans are amazing.  It's humbling to realize how dependent I am on my "things."  Here, most people don't have things - and I can not make it without my fan.  Oh, how we love our things and the comfort they give us.

"Do not love the world or the things in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world - the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes of pride in possessions - is not from the Father but is from the world.  And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever." 1 John 2:15-17
