Serenity when things fall apart.

When things seem to be falling apart around us, how do we know if it is just part of God's plan?

"For the Lord is God,and he created the heavens and earth and put everything in place.  He made the world to be lived in, not to be a place of empty chaos."  - Isaiah 45:18

"For He has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure." - 2 Samuel 23:5

We've all heard the story about life looking like a quilt from the backside - it seems chaotic to us, but when you flip it over, He's got it in perfect order.  So, I know that God has a plan, and I know that most of the time His plan looks chaotic to us.   And also, I know His word in the Bible is truth, and should guide us on that path, that God has already planned.  So, I ask, where is the balance?  How do we decide which things in life are out of our control and don't make any sense to us, but God has in complete control.  And how do we know when our circumstances or things are out of whack, and we need to take action and change them according to the Truth in God's word?

The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

  1. From Rest to Chaos in one blog. Sometimes it's that way in one day, or one hour! But our God is bigger than the chaos, He is more organized than our shattered plan, He is greater than our skewed thoughts. Rest in Him like a hammock. Chaos will surround us, because we're in the world. But take heart, we have His hand and His plan to hold onto!
